It takes an exceptional set of qualities to rise above the sea of very able vocalists on today’s gospel landscape.  Such gifts are unique and to be treasured and, most importantly, heard.  Hearing the voice of Wilson Mackey inspires the listener to immediately define a rare vintage or reminisce about immortal song stylists that were able to similarly stir the soul.  Some have likened Wilson to the legendary Billy Eckstine while others are reminded of the silky smooth Arthur Pryscok either way the reference is marked by greatness.

Wilson Mackey is one of the most captivating and gifted singers of our time.  His distinctive baritone voice as well as awesome ability and range can raise exhilarating emotions that leave the listener breathless.  With these gifts, Wilson can transform any ballad, and place an undeniably memorable trademark on a range of music both Christian and secular.

Wilson began to seriously sing at the age of 11 in the church, and has since honed his skills and inspired audiences in a wide range of churches and other venues.  His impact and reputation have been profound with a tremendously strong following throughout California.  One of his career highlights includes regular appearances as a guest vocalist at Marla Gibbs’ popular North Hollywood, Palomino Club.

In 1984, Wilson released his first single, “Champagne, Kisses and Wine” in collaboration with songwriter/lyricist L.J. Jennings, Wilson knew his days in the secular music world were numbered.  He had a deeper spirit and passion that was guiding his life.  The Lord intervened and made this transition possible, in fact Wilson’s new career in gospel music was gloriously embraced and celebrated as he was called into the music ministry at Wings of Love Maranatha Ministries in Oakland, California.  Wilson has recently released his highly anticipated debut album, “I’ve Been Renewed,” on Sounds of Soul Records produced by Greyhare Productions.
